Do you see a resemblance?

I've heard that married couples often start to look like one another. I've also heard that owners sometimes look like their pets. I dunno...do you think it's true?

Cowboy 2, Wenmei 0

Here's my latest look, thanks to Cowboy. It's actually fading quickly, but I still feel like I have balloon lips and it hurts to blink my left eye.

To think, Jessica Simpson PAYS to get her lips to look like this! Of course, she has both of her lips completely inflated, not just half of her upper lip...

Cowboy up

I have a fat lip and a black eye. How did I get these bar-brawling wounds, you ask? Well, no bars (or brawls) were involved. I was playing with Cowboy and he headbutted me in the face. One split lip and bruised cheekbone later...I look pretty darn tough.

Pretty Granite

This past weekend was a gorgeous fall weekend -- possibly the last one before the winter gray hits -- so Margaret and I took advantage of the sunny weather to hike Granite Mountain. The leaves were in all their color-changing glory and we could see for miles when we reached the top. It was a perfect day for a hike and I'm so glad that we were able to do Granite before the snow starts! Some of you may remember that the last time I did Granite, I got lost in a blizzard and got frostbite on several of my fingertips. It was good to replace those scary memories with images of vibrant foliage, clear blue skies, and endless mountain panoramas.

OK, I'm starting to sound like a travel ad (except for that blizzard/frostbite part). Let's look at pictures. Remember to mouse over the thumbnail images to see their titles.

Open house

Ben & Carrie spent most of their summer remodeling their house. They've completed phase 1 (the kitchen area) and were ready to show it off at their open house on Saturday! It looks amazing -- they took down a lot of the walls, expanded the kitchen into a gorgeous open plan, and created a really nice dining/kitchen/living area. Hopefully it will motivate us into finally getting our remodel underway...

Things that make you go hmmm...

Should I be concerned that someone from the CIA is reading my blog?

Hamstrung

Last night, I finally climbed a problem I haven't been able to conquer in weeks. It involves a tricky little overhang where I have to push off of my right foot and swing up to catch a hold in my left hand. I've been too tired/weak/afraid to try for the final push & swing the other times I've attempted it, but this time my climbing buddy was spotting me so I went for it. I was so excited when I got it...and then I realized that I pulled a muscle in my hamstring. On my left leg. How in the world did I do that? I wasn't even USING my left leg!

I'm baffled...and sore. But YAY! I got it!

G'suffa!

Prost! Trish and I met up in SF to celebrate all things German at the incomparable Presidio Oktoberfest. As always, the guys (Chris, Andy & Patrick) hosted a great event. We got our fill of beer, wurst, pretzels, Festmusik and lederhosen (although can you ever really get enough lederhosen?) und wir hatten eine wundervolle Zeit! The PLDs were back in full force, and it was good.
